This series
is designed to meet the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board
requirement for training. Attend the

impact the field of addiction from: history of substance abuse treatment up

The Fundamentals of Supervision
This
training focuses on the challenges that you face day to day as a supervisor
and leader. Supervisors wear many
hats; this training will promote understanding of clinical vs.
administrative supervision. We will
discuss our values, knowledge, and skills as they relate to supervision.

Strategies for Addressing
Cognitive Impairments in the Treatment Setting
This
training will discuss characteristics of people with cognitive disorders
and how they many present in treatment.
Specific intervention strategies will be discussed to assist people
with developmental delays to be successful in treatment and recovery.

Treatment Strategies for LGBTQ
Population
Members
of sexual minorities have special needs that must be addressed in order to
provide effective treatment for their addictions as well as co-occurring
psychological and behavioral problems.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons may experience a
delay in diagnosis of addiction and consequently experience untreated
mental health issues may complicate primary addiction treatment and
undermine ongoing recovery in these populations. This training will review accessibility
issues for the LGBT populations, their clinical presentation, and special
issues affecting addiction, its treatment, and recovery.

Mindfulness as a Basis for
Substance Abuse Treatment
An
experiential workshop that will focus on mindfulness techniques as a
treatment strategy. Specific examples of how integrate mindfulness
practices into relapse prevention, stress management and other common
substance abuse treatment issues.

The Fundamentals of Prevention
Services
This workshop offers you the opportunity to learn the
basics of substance abuse prevention. This training is intended to provide
a history of prevention services, basic language and best
practices/principles of the field. Specific topics will include Prevention
and Public Health Model, Risk and Protective Factors, Asset Development,
Prevention Strategies and Individual and Environmental Change.

Ethics in Substance Abuse
Treatment
This training is
designed to prepare/remind people for handling confidential and sensitive
information. We will explore
protocols used to protect client information and the importance of handling
such information respectfully. Through case examples and role-play, we will
discuss disclosing information without authorization, as well as other issues related to client information.

An experiential training that will develop your skills with
engaging clients in the process of treatment planning. As well, as develop your ability to write

also explore standards that govern treatment plans and other documentation
that support a client’s progress.

workshop will address the role of the supervisor and the elements of a
