your child to enrich his or her creativity, reading, and writing skills, as

SECOND STEP VIOLENCE PREVENTION introduces interpersonal
violence as a social problem of concern to middle and junior high students.
While many students haven't had direct confrontation, most have experienced
potentially violent conflicts or known a friend or acquaintance who has
been directly involved. This program discusses the impact of violence,
resolution tactics, and develops communication and de-escalation skills.
KID'S CONNECTION is a ten-week
education and support group for young people aged seven to fifteen who have
an alcohol or drug dependent caregiver in their lives. Led by a trained
adult, KID'S CONNECTION provides a safe place to explore feelings, develop
coping skills and learn accurate information about the disease of chemical
dependency. As these children are at higher risk for developing alcoholism
later in life, this program is a key resource for breaking the cycle of
addiction in families.
TREND (Turning Resources and Energy in New
Directions) is implemented in schools and communities and provides
alcohol and drug free activities for teens ages 14-19. LIFE SKILLS TRAINING
is an educational series for adolescents and is implemented during
transitional phases of young people's lives. Conducted in classroom
settings, LIFE SKILLS
helps strengthen communication skills, provides opportunities for
interaction about topics of concern, and provides updated information about
alcohol and other drugs in age appropriate ways.
The Alcoholism Council is currently one of six
organizations in the state accredited and funded by the Ohio Department of
Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS) to provide technical
assistance to companies building a formal drug-free workplace. The
Council's WORKPLACE INTERVENTION
NETWORK (WIN) offers employers assistance in identifying
and resolving productivity problems for employees impaired by personal
concerns, including but not limited to, alcohol and drug abuse. It also
offers assistance to employees and their families.
